A Message from RSF Fire Protection District

The Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District has begun its 2023 Weed Abatement and Defensible Space Inspections. Maintaining 100' of defensible space is needed to slow or stop the spread of wildfire and create a buffer between your structure and surrounding vegetation. The purpose of the Defensible Space and Weed Abatement Program is to inform and educate residents of potential fire hazards that may exist on their property.  This process is initiated by sending a "Notice to Abate Hazard" letter to the address listed on county records. If a notice is received, read the complete notice front to back. These notices contain useful information such as location of the hazard, how to mitigate the hazard, pictures of the hazard, a timeline to have the hazard removed, and contact information for the Fire Prevention Bureau.

With the warm dry months quickly approaching, RSFFPD asks that these hazards are removed within the deadline. If you are unable to complete the work within the timeline, or have questions about the notice, please contact the Fire Prevention Bureau at 858-756-6023 or email [email protected].
